The
“Ju Mohar” monastery was founded in 1650 in Kham;
it is of great historical and spiritual value. It is very dear
to all Tibetans, since it was the place of residence of one of
the greatest Tibetan scholars of all times, Jamgon Mipham Rinpoche
(1846 – 1912), who composed treatises that now function
as the cornerstones of Tibetan Buddhist literature.
Just like the Dzagyel Temple, the Ju Mohar monastery was completely
destroyed. Despite the Chinese having ceased suppression of religious
activities in this region, the Ju Mohar monastery has not been
able to resume its historically important role nor its proper
functioning.

In
January 2007, two considerable benefactors donated a total of
85,000 USD. With this money, a retreat centre for twenty-five
monks was built, with individual cells for the monks in retreat
and a temple for the ceremonies and teachings. Funds are yet to
be found to finance the installation of facilities, the paintwork,
the furnishing and the acquisition of the required religious objects
such as statues, tangkas and ritual instruments. These remaining
costs are estimated at 78,000 USD.
